Reason #4: Climb up a Waterfall!
Although I have not done any research to confirm this, I’m pretty sure Thailand is the only place with a waterfall that you can climb up! The Buatong Waterfall, nicknamed the “Sticky Waterfall,” is located in Chiang Mai, Thailand. While it is not actually sticky, you CAN walk up the falls!
You arrive at the top of the falls, where there are small pools of water and streams that all eventually run into the big waterfall. These were full of little ones while I was there, but would be fun to take a dip in otherwise!
Walk down a set of stairs through a bamboo forest, and you will come out at the bottom of the waterfall! The falls flows over rocks that are covered in limestone deposits. They are very grippy and feel a bit like sandpaper, so walking up is nearly effortless! There are a few small spots on the rocks that are green tinted, with moss growing. These are a little bit slippery, so do watch your step!
Climbing the Sticky Waterfall is a very unique experience that I would recommend to any Thailand Travelers! Check it out!
